The Gut IQ Test is one of the most comprehensive gastrointestinal profile that checks over 200 different markers.
It combines several state of the art techniques including PCR (polymerase chain reaction, the one used for COVID19 virus detection), ELISA (with advanced spectrophotometry), Macroscopy (a thorough visual inspection), and shotgun metagenomic sequencing.
Unlike traditional sequencing, the newly developed shotgun metagenomic sequencing is designed for large volume, highly complex samples (such as for testing soil and water).
It uses extensive computation and bioinformatics to sequence almost everything in the sample, thus offering much deeper analysis, e.g.,
capability to identify specific strains of bacteria and viruses (not just broad family);
full functional profiling to detect specific genes and their actions (to pinpoint antimicrobial resistance and virulence factors);
high efficiency in detecting wide range of pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, molds in a single sample.
The GutIQ profile covers the following:

Although anyone can benefit from knowing their microbiome, people with the following symptoms might benefit the most:
Chronic, serious gastrointestinal problems
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
Inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBS)
Suspected H. pylori and other bacterial, viral or fungal infections
Gut dysbiosis and intestinal permeability
Auto-immune diseases
Small intestinal bacterial growth (SIBO)
Simply order the test kit online, collect the sample at home, ship it to the CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited labs (USBioTek Laboratories for this sample), and find out your results within days.
The kit will provide easy-to-use sample collection supplies and you will receive a detailed report that can be shared with your doctor.

The National Institute of Health suggests eating plenty of fruits and vegetables to keep gut health in check.
A: Except New York and New Jersey our tests are available in all 48 states. State regulations in NY, NJ do not allow us to ship the test kits to their residents. Certain tests might be available in these states, inquire with us for details.
A: The GutIQ test kit contains stool collection supplies, instructions on how to collect the samples, and a form requesting basic information including date and time of collection. The directions are straightforward and easy to follow.
A: In most cases, you will receive the test kit in about 3-5 business days. For orders within US, a prepaid return envelope is included to mail the sample directly to the lab (for orders outside US, we will provide the necessary paperwork for cross-border shipping).
After you ship the sample and it is received by our lab, in most cases the results are available within 10-15 business days (due to large number of markers, this test requires longer than our usual turnaround time of 5-7 days).
A: The report with your test results will be easy to understand and will have all the necessary details.
You can download a sample report on this page to learn more about the format and markers tested.
The report will include several pages explaining the markers in an easy-to-read language; it might include a short commentary specific to your results.
A: You can use HSA (or FSA/MSA/HRA) accounts to pay for the tests since these are prescription tests (for further confirmation, please check the IRS publication#969).
However, please ensure you are not going outside your specified max and min deductible limits.
We do not have the capability to process the insurance claim.
Since insurance plans vary for individuals we can not guarantee your HSA payment will always be processed by your plan.
We suggest talking to your insurance provider if you have any questions.
A: Measuring gut microbiome is an emerging field. The test quantifies bacteria, fungi, viruses, and parasites using several techniques such as PCR, ELISA, Macroscopy and metagenomic sequencing.
Some of these are highly advanced methodologies that report quantitative values, not just positive or negative results.
Your test is performed at USBioTek Laboratories and you can check their credentials here.
For majority of our tests, we have partnered with CLIA-certified labs that are regulated by the states, as well as Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Many tests from these labs are FDA approved to ensure they meet the proper regulatory requirements.
Additionally, the College of American Pathologists (CAP) requires inter-laboratory tests to ensure the ranges established by each lab do not drift or are not out of acceptable ranges.
This is done by regularly testing reference samples between different labs.
Finally, the labs test thousands of samples for different age groups and health conditions, and have well established reference data to compare your results against this large pool.
A: Unfortunately, no. As a lab test provider we can only test and report out data from your sample. We are not authorized to provide any medical recommendations. But we strongly encourage you to discuss the results with your doctor for next steps.
A GutIQ test can be the first step in understanding your gastrointestinal health. This highly advanced at home leaky gut test kit covers more markers than any of our other stool tests.
The GutIQ profile uses highly advanced and complex technique that covers very large number of intestinal markers and pathogens that can cause serious health issues. The test can be a first step in understanding your body's microbiome and lifestyle changes might be required for better health.
Due to such a large number of markers, it's possible that GutIQ profile might help assess some of the unexplained symptoms and unusual causes of GI problems.
A comprehensive GI profile might be more useful for some people, especially who have tested before and weren't able to get any clear answers.
